but it's going to be a bit limited. from this xtremesystems post by the author of clockgen:

No RS480 in it self is good. Just that the clock generator in this MSI board is not meant for overclocking. Also the voltage adjustments in it's bios are limited.

I am waiting for the Sapphire "gruper" board to come out in 1-2 months. It has the same rs480 and a newer sb with azalia HD audio and faster usb etc...
It should be a real killer performer.

there are a number of rs480 boards coming that use the uli southbridge (giving azalia audio and sata ii/ncq) and ati's upcoming sb450 will add those features too, though it seems none of the boards bar the sapphire and an unpurchasable jetway will allow overclocking, at least that's what i've been reading.

i just cannot fathom the decision-making behind that. it's a clock generator. probably costs $0.78 in bulk, or $0.84 for the 300mhz-capable version. how much sense does it make to save $0.06 per motherboard, when you could be selling an extra thousand units (or many more) to enthusiasts?

things like this just amaze me sometimes. maybe there is some byzantine logic behind it all, but i don't see it.
