Zalman NB47 install question... ( seems loose )

Hi all,
I just installed a Zalman NB47 Northbridge heatsink on my MSI k7N2 ( nforce2 ultra mobo ).

The stock heatsink on it had an honest to god dot of thermal paste on it.

Anyways; I've got the NB47 installed, but it doesn't seem to be firm... you can even slide it around a bit.

It does make contact, I used some ArticSilver5 paste etc.

Should it be on firmer ? If so, what might be a solution to make the spring "spring" firmer ?

It doesn't need to be firm to work well. Don't worry about it as long as there are no stability problems.

If you do want the fit to be firmer, you should be able to put a flat piece of metal between the northbridge chip and the heatsink.

I did too many things at once to directly point out what helped or not, but moving my gear into a 3000B case with the Zalman Northbridge cooler, my temps ( under load ) dropped pretty sweetly.

57/43 used to be average temps running F@H or Prime95 for a few hours.

Now I'm running 51/31 as averages.
