Undervolting an A64 in software, where BIOS doesn’t undervolt

I’m looking at Athlon 64 boards and some of them that interest me don’t support undervolting in the BIOS, but do support Cool ‘n’ Quiet.
I know it’s possible to undervolt using CrystalCPUID and similar tools, but my question is, how low can you undervolt using such software? Are they likely to be limited to 1.1 volts, which is I think the current lower limit for A64 at the slowest CnQ setting?
I assume it will vary from board to board and that hopefully there is some leeway in the voltage regulator to go below 1.1V, which might even be written into AMD’s specification! 0.8V seems to be a common value that is implemented in those boards that do support BIOS level undervolting.

One board I’m looking at is the Asus K8N, so if anybody has experience of undervolting one of those…

My DFI Lanparty NF4 seems to limit me to 1.1volts in software, but it can go down to .8 in the motherboard. I don't know how common that is though.
