Athlon64 Venice core with Asus A8V

Post by astrayan » Fri Jun 17, 2005 6:12 am

I got a Venice core. First off I found that Cool'n'quiet wouldn't work. No probs... went straight to Crystal CPUID. Then I find that the minimum voltage I can do is 1.1V and 1Ghz, and all these Newcastle owners are bragging about 800Mhz and 0.8V.

Even more depressing, I find that the CPU will do 1.8Ghz @ 1.1V, thus rendering the whole management process rather boring.

Does anyone know if this 1.1V limit is a Venice thing, or an A8V thing?

Some guys over at Xtreme are talking about board mods to get the voltage higher, but I can't ask them any questions, because the forum is so heavily moderated they don't let anyone join.

BTW, I can ram my FSB up to 300Mhz, and get 2700MHz, but that doesn't save any power
