Does a 754 CPU consume less power than a 939 ?
Comparing between a 754 CPU and a 939 CPU with the differences being only smaller L2 cache and single channel memory controller (all other factors the same), will the 754 CPU consume less power?
The smaller cache alone will require less power. Not sure about the memory controller, though I would think so. I'm unable to say how much less power though.
I know the Sempron 3300+ is a 90nm CPU. Not sure about the other 754s. It's equivalent in clock speed and process would be the 939 3200+ (Winchester or Venice).

I doubt that the cache and memory controller will make much of a difference, in the order of 1-2w max.
Semprons with a 'BA' in model number are the 90nm D0 winchesters based.
All 2600+, 2800+, 3000+, 3300+ use 90nm and most 3100+ although the first one were built using 130nm so there still might be some out there.
The 3000+, 3100+, and 3300+ all have cool and quiet the ones below that do not. It also seems that the semprons will be getting 64bit at the end of next month as well as changing over to the Venice based core.

I read some where that the dual channel memory controller on the 939/940 pin chips increases power consumption on the order of 5 watts over the single channel memory controller.
Need to keep in mind that on all other CPUs the memory controller is on anther chip that also has other fuctions and typicaly consumes about 15 to 20 watts.

As far as I know (and according to AMD's web site), they don't exist.

Whoops - I stand corrected. HP has been shipping unannounced Sempron 3200+ S939 chips and there are evidently some 'leaked' versions floating about as well.
I wish I had known about them when I upgraded my MCE system last month...I guess the S754 3300+ isn't too bad, though.
