I bought thte amd64 for its speed potential and its cool feature.
I am wondering how much heat difference happnens if you disable cool n' quiet. My mobo and chip thermometers arent working well, they go up and down at will without the temperature actually going up....
reason im saying this is that I have 1 gig of memory in my 754 3000+ computer right now, however, I have an identical 1 gig chip that will fit fine on my abit kv8 pro, however, cnq doesnt work with two chips on here, so I would have to disable it.......
how much of a heat difference would i have to account for in normal use? i know in performance mode its the same thing.
754 and cool n quiet, how big a difference.

For my A64 3200+ (s754 Newcastle) the AC wattage difference at idle between 1.4v 1600mhz and 0.8v 800mhz is around 30w. I did that comparison to get an idea of the power savings for a Sempron 2800+ if it could run CnQ.
Your 3000+ 754 should run at 1.5v 2000mhz default, meaning an even larger wattage difference at idle without CnQ. I am not sure exactly how this translates in temperature, but assume 30% of these extra watts will be dissipated as heat in your PSU and the balance 70% will be dissipated on the CPU.
