nForce 430 MCP chipset: First motherboards announced

Post by Slaugh » Tue Sep 20, 2005 7:58 pm

I found this upcoming board from Albatron on VR-Zone: The KM51PV. This board seems to be pretty good for an HTPC. It uses the new nForce 430 chipset with a built-in Geforce 6150, has no fan on the chipset (and the integrated GPU), has a mATX form factor and comes with DVI, TV out and HDTV-ready connectors. There's also room for expansion with PCIe slots. I don't know that much about Albatron, but they're one of the firsts to show the potential of this new chipset. Other companies will soon follow...

Here's the official press release from nVidia about the nForce 400 MCPs chipset.

GeForce 6150 (DVI :D) seems to be only available in 939 flavour. :(

Gigabyte's website has been updated:
GA-K8N51GMF-9 - Socket 939, NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6100 and NVIDIA nForce™ 430
GA-K8N51PVMT-9 - Socket 939, NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6150 and NVIDIA nForce™ 430 (note 1 x VGA port)

Nice. 6200 TC scores on the 3DMark programs are nothing to scoff at. Sounds like this will even beat ATi's integrated X300 solution, which was leaps and bounds ahead of other integrated GFX.

And passive cooling to boot. Can't beat that.

this is good news. I've been planning to build an HTPC too.

Asus announced two upcoming motherboards featuring the new nForce chipsets. The A8N-VM is based on nForce 410 with an integrated Geforce 6100. The other one, the A8N-VM CSM, is based on nForce 430 with an integrated Geforce 6150. This one supports PureVideo and has a DVI port. Both have mATX form factor, SATA II connectors and all standard features from the previous nForce4 boards. And the most important, both are fanless motherboards! :D

It looks like board manufacturers have notice people are looking for a overclock (undervolt for us) options in mATX format.

Gigabyte states there vcore options in there boards and Anandtech review of a Biostar TForce 6100-939 says theres vcore options.
