Connecting Floppy/Card Reader to motherboard

Post by 2grVe » Fri Sep 23, 2005 4:06 am

Morning,

Was wondering if anyone has any ideas.

i have a 3.5" disk drive with an integrated card reader (CR). The CR has a internal four pin USB connector. My motherboard is the Asus A8N-SLI Premium. The board has several internal connectors but these all have a nine pin configuration for the double USB connectors:

00000
0000

Does anyone know how I can connect the drive?

Any help appreciated...

It can be connected to either row of pins since it acts as through a single USB. Just make sure to use the left-most four if you're using the upper row.

Make sure that the cable connector is installed right-side up. You'll have to look at the motherboard manual to determine which pin is ground, then make sure that the cable connector is inserted so that the black wire mates to that pin.

I have heard rumors of incompatibility between Aus motherboards and the Mitsumi floppy/card reader.

My Mitsumi works OK with the Abit motherboard.
