In my new system I got 4x512 Corsair Value Select DDR400. But, when I start my system up it says that the RAM is only DDR333. I have checked the RAM by opening my case and they have official looking stickers saying DDR400.
I tried updating all of my mobo drivers and stuff but nothing happened.
The rig:
AMD 3700+
ASUS Premium
2GB Corsair VS
200GB samsung spinpoint SATA
7800GTX
Please help. Thx,
mattek

Re: Help with RAM issue
I don't know if this is still a problem with newer systems, but a while back some memory controllers couldn't reach ddr400 speed with 4 memorysticks in the system. This can be easily tested by pulling two sticks and seeing if that changes anything.mattek wrote:In my new system I got 4x512 Corsair Value Select DDR400. The other thing to try is to check your memory settings in your BIOS and trying different setting combinations.
Yep, this is a huge failure on AMD's part. All the Athlon64s have integrated memory controllers but the old memory controllers can't handle four RAM sticks at DDR400 speeds. If you have a dual core Athlon or the latest stepping of the Venice or San Diego cores this won't be a problem. Other than that though you're pretty much stuck. Well, you could probably overclock the system bus/HTT and drop the CPU multiplier and then it would run at the speed you want but that is a hack that AMD shouldn't have made necessary.
