stable, pci-e, x2 compatible, passively cooled mb

Post by ki_cz » Thu Oct 13, 2005 11:06 pm

I unfortunately somewhat screwed myself here ... I bought the abit ax8 thinking that as it said on the US website, it would eventually get BIOS upgrades to support X2 chips. I was wrong, only the ver2 board supports this. Unfortunately, I have since moved to Europe, more speficially the Czech republic, where I can't find this board anywhere. So, I'm going to either have to look harder for this one, or, get a different one. Are there any stable, easy to work with boards that have the things I need, x2 support, pci-e and are passively cooled? I don't want to do any aftermarket passive cooling because it will interfere with my passively cooled video card heatpipes (at least in most of the cases that I've seen).

Help!

I unfortunately have no need for SLI, so Im not sure if the extra price point is really worth it. This is purely a 3d modelling and design computer, pretty much zero gaming.

Most of the Gigabyte S939 boards are passively cooled.

xp90 won't fit onto the GA motherboards because of the mount, have to look into the asrock one, but I think in the end, the zx8 rev2 will be the best board to go with ...
