Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 alternative?

Post by guava » Fri Nov 18, 2005 8:05 am

I was ready to buy the Ultra-9 for my new system, and now it suddenly seems to have gone out of stock everywhere. So I am searching for a comparable replacement. Having a passive NB cooler would be ideal, but I'll use the zalman cooler if I absolutely have to. I do need to have a parallel port, so the passive Abit's are out, and and I'm looking in a similar price range. The Asrock everyone is enthused about looks great, except no firewire which I need for a future audio interface. Details on my planned system may be found here.
It's for a P150, so I don't know how I feel about Asus either with all the reported problems with the HE430.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I was about to suggest the Asus A8N32-SLI, but since you're set on a P150, you'll be taking a chance.

What about the DFI boards?

Or maybe just wait until the Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 is in stock again?

Actually, I'm now thinking about the Abit kn8 ultra, on the recommendation of another forum member. It doesn't have parallel, but I can always get an adapter. DFI might be a possibility if I replace the NB heatsink.
