I’ve recently upgraded from a AthlonXP 1700+ and a ATI 9500pro to a Q6600 and a 8800GTS.
- And discovered that I got to much power :-)

My questions:
Trying to downclock the CPU, in the bios, I’ve reach a lower limit on 230Mhz FSB; why?.
The motherboard allows a setting of 100MHZ but won’t boot below 230Mhz (and yes, the RAM is async, running at 600-800Mhz)
Is this a known lower limit for the Q6600 CPU?
Is this a known lower limit for the nforce 650i? (my motherboard is a gigabyte n650i-DS4)

Also:
Setting 0,975volt in bios, for the CPU, gives 0.91 volt according to speedfan and CPU-Z
BUT!
RMclock still reports the CPU ramping the voltage between 1.165 volt and 1.235 volt according to Speedstep©
Are they both correct?
– (I know that the CPU uses different volt-grides, to different parts of the CPU architecture)

You can also limit the clock speed by using RMClock to control which multipliers are active. There is also software that allows you to change FSB such as SetFSB and Clockgen. RMClock works on all boards but the other tools don’t.

RMClock is incorrect here. When you manually set the Vcore in the BIOS it tends to stay set. The voltage reported under Windows will vary from that set in the BIOS and will change when under load but that is normal.
