Hi all, I'm trying to decide on which CPU I should buy out of the above two.

The E3 1230 does not have on-die video, wehere as the the E3 1235 does have on-die video (Intel HD Graphics P3000).
The E3 1230 TDP is 80, but the E3 1235 TDP is 95.
The motherboard that I have bought (Tyan S5510GM3NR, reviewed here: http://www.servethehome.com/tyan-s5510- ... rd-review/) does not require a CPU with the on-die graphics.
However, I would preferably like to purchase the E3 1235, as I may need to use it on another board that does require that controller present for on-board video (I have another board lieing around that is compatible).
So, cliff notes - my question is this. If I purchase the E3 1235, will this use more power when compared to the E3 1230, if I DON'T have the on-board video enabled? Or will it be the same?

According to these slides from Intel via Hotchip, the graphic core can be turned off when not in use.
So the 1235 shouldn't draw more power than the 1230 when the graphics unit is disabled.

I decided to go down the E3-1260L route anyway, as it's TDP is around 45watt which is quite low, and still provides way more power than what I need it for!
