Does anyone know how high Kingston ValueRam is... that is him much clearance you need from an overhanging cpu cooler?

You need the part number and then, maybe, one of the datasheets from here will give you the information http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/default.asp.

According to those datasheets, my kit of Kingston ValueRAM (KVR1333D3N9K2/4G) is 1.18", or 30mm tall.
