Pentium D hotter than Pentium 4?

got an ooooold mainboard with a 3Ghz Pentium 4.
I want to buy a new mainboard and chip at the end of the year.
I could get a Pentium D 925 for $30, so I was thinking of buying it until I get my new mainboard. I know, both get very hot, but can I expect the Pentium D getting even hotter as the Pentium 4? or are they about the same?

Not sure about the 925D, but my 830D was way hotter than any P4. The 9xx series was a die-shrink of the 8xx series, and quite a bit cooler. Just not sure whether the result was more or less than the P4 they replaced. Probably still more, since it was essentially two P4's in a single package.
