Hi all,

I am looking a way to downgrade my 3770 to 3770s. As I know it's not just setup multiplier in mobo bios but also 3770 has another core voltage. Did anyone try to do this?

I tried with an 3550, however on an MSI motherboard I'm unable to set a lower multiplier limit (it gives an "Incorrect option" error). Did you have success with the multiplier alone?

As far as I know, the S and T chips use the same voltage at the same frequency as the standard version.

Frankly speaking, 3770 hasn't my yet, but I guess it will be as there is no S in my country :(.
So, I haven't try to do this.

The two are not that much different

i7-3770 E-1 3.4 / 1600 / 650
4 core: 3.7
3 core: 3.8
2 core: 3.9
1 core: 3.9

i7-3770S E-1 3.1 / 1600 / 650
4 core: 3.5
3 core: 3.6
2 core: 3.8
1 core: 3.9

The 3770 probably has 1.100 V at turbo multiplier 3.7Ghz and 3770S something like 1.07 V at 35x. 2x 0.015V for 2 steps down. I haven't tried but 3770s can't possibly be lower than 1 Volt at default turbo multipliers.

limit the cpu Power manually and set the turbo multipliers for each core. so that the cpu will set the multiplier and voltage accordingly to keep it below 45 watts.
