G620 / Asus P8H61-M LE coil whine when idle
Got a Pentium G620 / Asus P8H61-M LE combo with coil whine when it's idle, it's fine when Prime95 is running. It's fine in the BIOS too. Is there some power saving function that can be disabled to kill the whine? It's quite annoying, especially after I got a SSD.

In principle, yes. But I don't know how to do it.
The problem is that power consumption would of course increase.
See if your OS or BIOS exposes some settings. They should (even if it's not obvious - the Linux kernel has options that may not be exposed through a GUI for instance). Or maybe some third-party software can do the same.
That's not ideal but if nothing else you could try to run software that uses up the CPU but does nothing with a very low priority so as to keep the CPU from going into power-saving states.
