Lowest power consumption board for Crossfire AMD cards

Post by ex.treme » Sat Mar 30, 2013 10:37 am

Hi,
searching lowest power consumption motherboard for Crossfire AMD cards.

My plain is use AMD Crossfire with HD 7750 cards for gpu computing, so lines x4 nvm.

My current system:

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD4+ i2500k@default, CM Hyper 212+, Gigabyte HD7750 2GB DDR3, 2x4GB Corsair DDR3 1333, Samsung 1TB-F3, Thermaltake Armor Jr.,2x120 Revoltec,Zalman Fan mate2, FSP Aurum 400w GOLD, Idle 48 w, load cpu-Orthos-85w, lynx-128w, Load Gpu-3dmark vantage -max 100w

48w idle with 3.5 hdd and 7750 card not bad, but i wanna better. Without Hd7750 is consumption 38w - still not so good i expected.
Know this mobo with 16 VRM phases is not efficient motherboard.

Thats why i looking for low power consumption with support crossfire.

Chipset H61, H67, H77, B75, atc

Found for example this mb
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H67M#specifications
Asus P8H67M
Multi-GPU Support
Supports AMD Quad-GPU CrossFireX™ Technology
Expansion Slots
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black) -
How much i can save watts?

My questions :
Is there any low power motherboard with chipset H61, B75 for crossfire gpus and cpu v core adjustment for low power?
My plan is use G530 or i3 2100 with it.

Thank you.

Thank you Steve.

Would be interest comparison ASUS P8B75-M LE vs Asus P8H67M vs Asus P8-Z77-M in power consumption.

XBit Labs also compares power use as does Hardwareluxx. All three sites use different setups, so you can't compare one site to another...But, you can compare the mobos within ea site.

Sure yes me too, also my thanks. My favorite for 3x gpu is MSI Z77a-GD65 or GD80. Have one question. If i wanna use 3x gpu, i need IB processor i5 or i7 for support Pcie-x 3.0. If i use low cost i3-3220 cpu i got only pciex-2.0 support
With SB processor it can't allow me using 3 gpu.

I'm also interest in comparison G530 cpu vs i3-3220. Which will be low power draw? I can't find review with comparison.

Edit: found this interesting review

G530 missing, but G540 is there. Look's i3-3220 is the best solution for 4 threads cpu with consumption almost similar to G530.

It looks like you answered your own questions in the above post....

Here's one for you: For whatever application you are using that requires this level of gpu computing, will the i3 be the chokepoint?
