I was pretty interested in this one, but for some reason this variant still hasn't shown up in the US. amazon.co.uk has it, as does mini-itx.com, but ordering from the UK you're paying over the odds.

There are two other variants with fans and both of those can be found at US retailers like newegg. Unlike a lot of soldered-on CPU mainboards where there's a passive and and active version, there seems to be no difference in CPU specs:

Puzzling that nobody seems to be carrying it here. Assuming its street price is the same as the actively cooled versions, that's a pretty good price for a dual NIC, solid-cap, 4-SATA Celeron 1037U with dual-channel 1600 memory. Though in two of the three versions one of the SATA ports is eSATA only, and the one that has 4 SATA on board is single NIC.

I didn't even realize there were versions with fans around at first.

Do tell if it would be cheaper (and cheap enough for your purposes) for you to buy the fanless version from a private individual overseas than purchasing it from some shop. There's less VAT here than in the EU. The local price has increased a bit and with the weak USB is now over 100 (it must have less than 95 USD at some point).
Maybe you could also try Logicsupply or some other relatively small corporation which nevertheless has overseas operations.

An interesting observation from the specs:

Do not disassemble the onboard CPU/chipset and the heatsinks by yourself to avoid damage to these components.

Not entirely sure what this means for how the heatsink is attached. So does this mean you can't do a heatsink swap on one of the fan cooled versions either? That would be annoying as CPU-soldered-on boards like this really should be fanless for most uses.

A bare CPU die can crack easily from uneven pressure. You can damage the CPU easily because there's no heatspreader like on socketed CPUs and no frame around it like on some GPUs. Just be extra careful when you remove the original heatsink and when you attach the new one.
The bigger problem would be finding a cooler with the right mounting holes. Some mainboards for mobile interchagable CPUs use a 50mm X 50mm layout and you can find 1U and 2U coolers for them.
