I remember some article here mention that the S variant intel cpus aren't worthwhile, but didn't show any numbers. Well, techspot did a quick comparison with an i7 S variant. Basically, the lower average TDP is a meaningless wash. Avoid.

Interesting test
Mechanics of it is really crude. You will definitely get more result by manual undervolting.

One hope was that S models are selected to need less default voltage (and would consequently undervolt and overclock better). Still the difference isn't worth the asked price
