in terms of lower power draw and quietness and how much fans needed for cooling

is it better to have a CPU+GPU single chip that say draws 65 watts and cool that

or say a CPU that draws 35 watts

and a separate add-on GPU that draws say 35 watts, if such GPU cards exist,

in driving a 4k display

personally i hope to one day own an AMD Ryzen with 8 cores, with GPU all for under 35 watts on single die , drives 8k, and 7nm process

So, here's the thought experiment: with 1 fan being quieter than 2, if the CPU heatsink and case can handle it, then this would be quieter. Or, with separate devices, you could have more heatsink surface area - you might be able to go passive.

It comes down to the case and the rest of the system.

is it possible to get ryzen 8 core to say 35 watts?

are there gpu cards that drive 4k or even 8k for around 35 watts?

amd promises 7nm on the way

As long as it sits (near) idle, no sweat!
With serious underclocking and som undervolting possibly even under load...

Again a matter of what you want it to do.
Display a still image, type a Word document or possibly even show a film could be very possible at <35W.

yeah, are there motherboards that allow both underclocking and undervolting a ryzen so it can perform under load at UEFI ?

should still be very responsive with 8 cores/16t

My motherboard, Gigabyte B350-Gaming-3, does indeed support underclocking. Not sure about undervolting though.
I think a CPU with fewer (than eight) cores running at higher speed will generally perform better at the same power consumption though.

are there 35 watt gpu's fanless that can drive 4k displays or even 8k if and when they become affordable?

GeForce GT 1030 draws below 35W according to Tom's Hardware.
Should be able do drive high resolutions as long as you don't do gaming and such at those resolutions.

one reason i would prefer a cpu/gpu is i could put a large hetsink fan on the it and it frees a slot for other uses

though ssd pci is expensive and runs very hot
