International Alliance of Low Power System Integrators

As some of you know I started a Dutch website where people can order low power desktops. Unfortunately, my friend who makes the website doesn't have time to put up an English version, but I'll let you know as soon as he does.

Although I'm extremely busy with getting this initiative some attention in the Netherlands, I want to take it a step further. Why? Because I want low power computers to become the standard, because I want transparency when it comes to power consumption of computers, because I want to stimulate manufacturers to be more innovative, in short: because I want people to curb greenhouse gas emmissions.

I want to start looking for people in other countries who feel the same way that I do and form some sort of an international alliance with them. The way I see it now we'd all be operating under the same name. Not as a multinational company, but rather as a collection of independent companies in different countries.

The advantages:

1) By operating under the same name you create an international image, thus making it easier to attract attention. In my mind's eye I see a portal with flags, such as this one.
2) Two know more than one, so this community would have quite an extensive knowledge base which would come in very handy with researching and building low power computers, but also for instance in helping others start up their business, etc.

Except for the name and perhaps basic website layout, everyone in the alliance would be completely independent. They could write their own texts, offer their own computers, set their own prices, etc. But there would have to be a few rules also. The first one I can think of is an agreement on the maximum idle power consumption of systems in different setups (for instance high end, low end, ultra-low end). I can't think of anything else for the moment. Perhaps the set of rules would evolve of itself as the community develops.

I was hoping you'd think along with me about the pros and cons of this idea, and above all the feasability. My website is receiving quite some attention from people in a lot of different countries, so that indicates something, right? In the meantime, if you're interested or know someone who could be, then please send me a PM.
