Favor companies that keep old drivers available

Post by scdr » Sat Aug 18, 2007 11:32 pm

HP just stopped providing Windows 98 driver downloads for
many of their products. This makes it harder to keep their scanners and printers in use and out of garbage.

By continuing to provide information and drivers for their older products companies can help reduce waste.
If you buy from companies that keep this information available, you may increase the chances that when what you bought becomes an "ancient" product, you (or somebody else) will still be able to get the information and drivers they need to keep it running.

I find HP's abandonment of it's customers disgusting, and would certainly think twice before buying from them.
Just a thought
