default BIOS settings suck

I just recently built a Thuban-based PC with an MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard. By default, CnQ was disabled, C1E was disabled and suspend was set to S1. This is my first custom AMD build in years (since my K6 got fried). On all my Intel builds so far, the power saving options were enabled right out of the box. I'm curious, in your experience, is it normal to have to manually enable power saving options in the BIOS?

It's possible that the "failsafe defaults" were pre-loaded to maximise compatibility towards odd parts. Loading "optimised defaults" in BIOS should have those enabled. It's all up to the motherboard manufacturer.
