Just for everyone's info..
Scythe Samurai now available from overclockers.co.uk for circa 30 GBP inc VAT.. not bad me thinks. From what I read in other threads it actually sucks air off the heatsink so it would be good for use with an out blowing duct.

anyone know where you can get Sorbathone (or any good thick foam for silencing) in the UK?

*edit* okay, this is insanely expensive on mcmastercarr, so nevermind :)

Thought I'd do a quick post about my experiences with http://www.kustompcs.co.uk

I ordered a variety of bits and bobs - Nexus 120mm fan, AcoustiPack Sontata sound dampening material, grommets, blank CDs etc - all arrived the very next day and packaged in a huge PC sized box for just £2.50+VAT postage!

They even amended my order (I wanted to add another item after the original order was placed ) to save me having to pay additional postage.

Email queries were dealt with courteously and promptly.

Excellent service.

Yes, I too had a good experience shopping with them. Their delivery rates are very reasonable indeed and I hope it stays that way. Highly recommended.

Don't be too sure about ordering from Mcmaster from the UK. Despite their site offering worldwide shipping and no minimum order, this was the reply I got when I tried to order some sorbothane.

We decline to bid on your inquiry. Our export business is very limited and we prefer to do business only with established manufacturing concerns.

Bid? Inquiry? I thought I'd made an order.

I have always found Paul from KoolnQuiet very helpful and am very happy with the system he supplied (see http://www.silentpcreview.com/article164-page1.html).

FWIW.. since people have been complaining about JVC motors on Spinpoints I thought I should mention that I recently ordered a 1614N (160G 8M cache PATA) from www.overclockers.co.uk and it had a Nidec on it.
Having said that - I'm not sure I like overclockers that much any more - first they don't know how to charge my credit card (it takes them two days to do it) - and then the couriers take days to deliver - when they quote next day. And the package arrived pretty beaten. Haven't tried the drive yet :!:

I haven't had problems with Overclockers recently. My very firsat order took a week to arrive, which wasn't good. My second order I messed up my 3-digit security code - my Mastercard has got a guage right through them! I phoned them up and all was okay. Since then I['ve ordered a few times and had next day delivery. I think all 4 of my SP1614Ns have come from them, and although they were before this whole JVC/Nidec thing started so I've never looked - but they're all quiet! The parcel's aren't fantastically packed, but mine have come without any dents or holes (perhaps it the London couriers?). And the drives are always given loads of bubblewrap.

I saw these guys http://www.whispertec.com/index.html mentioned in another post once, but they don't seem to be in this list. Don't know how good their fans are, but they seem to have stuff I haven't seen elsewhere. Apologies if I've missed an earlier posting.

An update to last year's post - Evercase still sell direct to Joe Public, but the price quoted is a bit out of date or else doesn't include VAT and shipping. My 4252 with some extras cost me about 43 quid including shipping. A vanilla 4252 + shipping would be about 30+Vat=35. Still well worth the money however!

Hmm - that site is pretty cool - I was annoyed when Savastore stopped stocking the 5400rpm Spinpoints - but it seems these people stock them too, and at a respectable price
Thanks for this.

Has anyone found the best place to buy decent 2.5" drives? The choice seems pretty limited.

Haven't used this seller before, but it's one of the few places available in the UK that sells the Panflos:-

Yeah, I bought a few panaflo's from her a couple of months ago. Very good service. This was before she got her own domain name but I can't exactly see that making much difference.

Just like to say that I ordered an all the components to build my new system from [url=http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/]Kustom PCs with shipping to Luxembourg and got excellent service. They even took my VAT no and shipped my parts free of VAT. Shipping costs were very reasonable and I would use them again at the drop of a hat. Emails were responded to quickly and courteously.

As for scan.co.uk, they don't ship outside of the UK, nor does scan.nl ship outside of the Netherlands. What is it with these unhelpful companies?

Has anyone seen any 2400+ 1.35V XP-Ms?
Must be mobile, must be 1.35V.
www.cpucity.co.uk used to stock them but they don;t any more. They do have 2500+ 1.45V jobbies though.

I have bought a box of Sorbothane sheets. The sheets are large: 0.5m x 0.5m, 3mm thick, black, durometer 30 on the Shore OO scale - so the softest and stickiest in Sorbothane's normal range. When I've finished my project I will probably have a few sheets spare to sell to any SPCR members in the UK. At this size Sorbothane is costly and needs a big package to send it: I'd be looking for £40 per sheet +£8 shipping per parcel. Anybody who is interested is welcome to PM me.

See here for Ralf Hutter's Sorbothane drive mounting mod: http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewto ... c&start=51

Anyone know the cheapest place for 120mm Nexus fans in the UK?

I see Kustom PCs have them at £12 each and having used them i would love to do business with them again after my recent experience with OCUK - terrible

If you ever need a heatsink for a chip or something, you might find one at this surplus outfit if you are lucky:
http://www.mainlinegroup.co.uk/mless/ma ... _sort=8104
I bought a handful of heatsinks from them recently, service was excellent, and the heatsinks are brand new and as described.

Sadly looks as though this deal has ended, but see

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Seasonic.html

Reasonable reductions on S12-430, S12-500 and S12-600.

Just ordered the S12-500 for £67.50 + VAT, best price I could find.

Bummer.. I was waiting for it to get back in stock before ordering it.. but now it's at 62GBP.. but.. not all is lost - the 380W model is now down to 42GBP.

I was just going to post up saying that Scan have the S12-380W at £42.29 inc VAT. I've just ordere 2 of them after my OEM 350W Seasonic (from Kool & Quiet) blew me away with its lack of noise! Guess I was beaten to it. I was on the lookout for a SFX PSU (MATX size) which scan had an FSP 300W. My old 180W FSP SFX just died. Not that I use the 80mm fan, I remove the cover and pop in a 120mm! GLad I found the Seasonics!
