(Posted at MikeC's suggestion as it could be a long time before another fan roundup. If anything goes against forum rules, I'll be happy to edit this post accordingly.)

We thought the silent PC community might be interested in knowing that we have just released a new LED fan designed for quiet computers! (FAN-V120B by VIVO)

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FE3R1QS

The fan is a standard 120mm case fan designed to offer great performance at a low noise level while adding some flare to your PC. It may not break any silencing records, but as far as LED fans go, we believe it's one of the best you can find for use in a quiet computer. The blade and frame design give a smooth, benign airflow quality that we believe to be on par with the SPCR favorite Nexus 120mm fan (noise level at 12V will be a little higher due to the 1,200RPM rotation speed vs. the Nexus fan's 1,000RPM), and we use a quiet motor to minimize the buzzing/ticking noise typically associated with fans made from transparent plastics. The high pressure 9-blade impeller should also give nice performance with heatsinks and radiators.

If anyone decides to give these a try, we'll be happy to hear your feedback!

Thanks for sharing,

I have some questions,

1) on the descriptions says "Combination 3-pin/4-pin cable allows the fan to be powered by the motherboard or directly by the power supply
Size - 120x120x25mm", wondering if the fan is PWM or DC?

2) From the description "Low Noise - 1,200RPM 9-blade impeller", wondering if you can tell us the staritng voltage, how low it can run on voltage/pwm, does undervolting afect the led intensity?

Thanks,

Thank you for your questions!

To clarify on the cable, it has a 3-pin connector for a header on the motherboard and a 4-pin connector to plug directly into the power supply (use one or the other). It is straight DC, non PWM.

The starting voltage is about 4.5V, and they'll run steadily at 5V. Some of our PC cases have a 12V/5V fan controller switch, so we had to make sure the fans could work reliably and consistently at that voltage. LED intensity is affected by voltage, but not by very much. We'd call the brightness at 5V "moderate".

Thanks for the info. One additional question: What's the rpm @ 5V?

The speed at 5V is about 500RPM (+/- 10%). It's actually possible to get them down to about 4V after starting (400RPM or so), but for consistent speed and best functionality, a minimum of 5V is recommended.

We thought we'd give a little update, the fans are now available for $7.89 with Prime shipping through Amazon, or with free shipping if placed with an eligible order of $49 or more.
