Newb Help - Ball Bearing Noise

Post by connmen » Wed Feb 07, 2007 7:26 pm

Have read many of the fine articles on this site but haven't gotten an answer to what is probably a real newb question.

Just replaced my 300 watt OEM PSU for the first time with a StarTech Professional 450 watt ATX12V PSU. Installation was easy and it definitely works.

However, it emits a noticeable and constant ball-bearing type sound. Not too loud -- quieter than the hard drive ball bearing loading sound. But constant.

Being both a PSU newb and clearly obsessive compulsive, I'm hoping others can tell me if this experience is standard on ball-bearing PSUs or should I go shopping for another.

Thanks.

Basing to (little) data I found from that PSU I would classify it to "pig in a poke" category and you might have been as well with original PSU.
