Recommend a quiet gigawatt or higher PSU?
Looking to handle a pair of 6970s with aftermarket cooling and a hexacore processor. Anyone have a supply that doesn't become obnoxiously loud while playing Crysis at full settings?

1,000 watt power supply? Really?
I'd be very surprised if a system used more than 400-500 watts.

How about Kilowatt instead ?
Pick one of the 3 from the recommended list and you'll be good to go. (example : AX850 = 25dB@400W)

Well if you want something that big SPCR reviewed the Zalman ZM1000-HP and it's on the approved list.

I was speaking to a Dr. Emmett Lathrop Brown about your situation, and he seems to think that only 1.21 gigawatts will suffice.

Peak power draw using Furmark is 600W.
Asking about a silent crossfire system however is oxymoronic. Or just moronic.
To silence a video card you need an aftermarket cooler. An Arctic Cooling extreme needs three slots. You would need a mainboard to fit them and change the coolers yourself and loose the warranty on the cards. Without coolers like that you can forget about silence.
<edit> Then you have a system which dumps 400-500W of heat in the case and needs intake and exhaust fans.</edit>
Back on topic: Antec CP-850 seems ok.

LOL @ gigawatt OR HIGHER
Re: Recommend a quiet gigawatt or higher PSU?
They are building a new nuclear reactor here. It will produce 1.6 GigaWatts. There is even some headroom left for your future upgrades. I don't think it's for sale but consider just leasing the output.
It's not that loud and I am sure you could just throw a couple hundred million into a bit of high power line so you can keep it far enough from your computer.
Oh and it goes without saying that it won't break a sweat with Crysis at maxed out settings.

Now what you can say is I'm doubtful it'll use over 600 watts. Absolutely no need for a giga...or kilowatt psu. A good 750-850 would suffice.
Re: Recommend a quiet gigawatt or higher PSU?
Are you sure you need a gigawatt? Maybe a Megawatt will suffice? You could get a windmill in your backyard, they supply about 0.5 to 2.5 megawatts. But if you really need a gigawatt (or more!) you can just get a thousand windmills. One goes for only a million dollars per MW, roughly.
