Indeed Chieftec are Sirtec, but they are Delta too. Maybe a Delta inside is better.
I suggest to look after a Fortron.

Is it worth buying it for a good medium quality PSU, that might not be the best, but is already reliable and stable when compared to all those cheap ripoffs that the stores are flooded with?
Yes.

PS. It won't be quiet though.

So where do you live?
That would make finding alternatives more easier.
Also what kind models you have available there?

Also here's one way to detect who made PSU if you just have review with pic of properties sticker.

For example Fortron/FSP is very big OEM. (code: E190414)
Enermaxes should be at least medium quality and newest models very good.
Those made by Seasonic are also good.

Damn those shops have good taste for El Cheapos...
For example Q-Tec is one of the worst ones, every power value they state is peak and total power comes from peak values of rails so I would directly deduct 50% from their PSU power ratings.

If they overprice quality PSUs heavily there you might want to check other EU-countries.
Here's very good price comparison:

(also Chieftec Deltas are there)

I've myself have good experiences from all these.
