More powerful PSU = runs cooler?

Post by josephclemente » Wed Sep 25, 2002 5:29 pm

I've sometimes heard a higher wattage PSU will run cooler for the same components than a less powerful PSU, as it has more breathing room.

This belief is one of the reasons why I got the 465 rather than the 365 model for my Enermax PSU a few months ago. It was overkill for my setup, even the "less powerful" supply was overkill. But I was going for lower operating temperatures as top priority.

Or did I get it all wrong? Just curious...
