Nexus NX-3000 PSU - My Review

After reading articles here and other places I decided to buy the Nexus PSU 300W from Silicon Acoustics. Cost $75 and about $5.50 for shiping per unit (I bought two).

PSUs arrived well packaged each bubble rapped. Upon inspection of the external case I noticed light scratches in the on the Top and Side opposite the sticker (Relative to final PC position when installed) on both units. Install went fairly smoothly, but not great. The Sticker is to the Opposite side of the case (ie you can't see it removing the usual left panel (viewing PC from the front)). The power connector to the motherboard was not very good. The plastic was flexable and would not seat in my board without good deal of effort as I used a Screwdriver blade to bend the connectors to work. Once installed and running I couldn't hear it, mostly because I have a loud CPU fan and bad MB fan. But in all truth it is very Quite.

Conclusion, they should have used better plastic on the MB connector, learned where the power supply rating sticker goes, and not scratched up the outside. Other than that, they have a very quiet PSU.

So Quiteness = 5 out of 5
Install = 3 out of 5
Overall 4 out of 5[/url]

The scratches are probably to do with the shipping all the way from the Nethlands to the US. As Silicon Acoustics sell scratch versions for $50 in the classifed adds here.
