which cable from ATX ps to mb is 12v line?

i need to power an external 12v device and want to feed the power off the ps without turning the computer on... thx for any suggestions...

Hi...

The answer to your question is that the yellow wires are the 12 volts coming out of the PSU.

You gonna have a problem though trying to get 12 volts out of the PSU when the computer is off. If you need to power up the PSU without it being plugged into the motherboard ,you need to short the one green wire in the ATX connector to any of the black ones.

Or use a separate AT power supply to power your device. They don't need a MB to be turned on. (and you can probably find one for next to nothing at your local computer repair shop. A little trip through their dumpster, perhaps?)

thx guys for the info... i probably will check out the at ps or get a ac-dc 12v adapter... guess those are the only viable options to run 12v without computer being on...
