Antec PSU

Post by elziko » Fri Jan 10, 2003 7:30 am

I have been offered an Antec SL300SP . Does anyone have any experience with them?

Currently my system is noisy and underpowered. Will this PSU be OK (and how quiet) for:

Abit KG7
Athlon 1.4GHz
1 HD @ 7200
Geforce 2MX 400
ADSL Modem/TV Card/Sound Blaster Live 5.1

On the Antec site I have found the following specs for a SL300S:

http://www.antec-inc.com/product/powers/sl300s_spe.html

Does anyone know the difference between a SL300S and a SL300SP?

Thanks,

elziko

Probably not that quiet, maybe better than what you have. Power should be perfectly adequate. Don't see any sign of an SP model; there is an XP version that does not have a wire fan grill.

I am interested in getting an Antec case "SLK1600" case, as it comes
with a smartpower sl300s psu, and sells for cheap.

From what I can tell on the net it has a, variable with temp fan, so it would
be about as quiet as many of the other commercial units out there.
There is a review or two of antec cases that have smartpower supplys on the net as well. Can not find any powersupply reviews like that are on this site though, with eff. at power, etc.

SL300SP is the European version of the SL300S (P for PFC which is required in Europe). Beyond that the specs are the same.
