Fanless Power Supply?

Post by nicklaz » Sun Jan 12, 2003 11:08 am

Is it possible to take the fans out of a power supply and have it run fanless? I know you can buy them fanless, but they are quite expensive. Please post pics if you have.

Thanks

Maybe but you need a case fan to suck hot air from the top of the case (where it rises to), so are you really gaining anything? The PSU is located right at the top of the case and has front vents where the PSU fans suck the hottest 'top' air and expell it outside the case.

thats why I am a bit leary of the idea of blocking those PSU vents and running just one fan, as proposed by some on this board, because it probably makes your case temp higher.
