need help

Post by L4177312 » Tue Mar 04, 2003 8:44 am

i was moving one of my harddrives into another computer and one of the connectors from the powersupply somehow hit one of the pins on the motherboard. i saw a huge spark from the back of the psu and maybe a small one from where it hit the pin. when i tried turning it on nothing happened. im not really sure whats damaged or not but im letting the psu sit unplugged for awhile, if it doesnt come back does anyone know how i would fix it? or maybe the motherboard if its not the psu? guess that will teach me to unplug the power next time

thanks

Hopefully you just blew a fuse in the PSU and nothing else.

if your up for it open the PSU and check to see if the fuse is blownm or just get a PSU from another mahcine and try that.

if the power supply is blown then you might see scortch marks. If you do that is a bad sign :(

Leave it for a while switch off and unplugged. I short circuited my PSU once too hee hee. But it never had the sparked you described it just cut off and would not turn back on. I left if for a while and grounded it too. Then swtiched it on and all was okay.

But your problem may be more serious.. :D
