Corsair 520w Fan Cable Volts?

Post by DogFace » Tue Jun 19, 2007 7:08 pm

Hi, I'm putting together a new rig, and have purchased the Corsair 520w PSU for an Antec SOLO case. I believe that 2 of some of the modular cables are labeled with "fan" on them. I'm wondering if this PSU is undervolting these cables down to 5v or 7v from the standard 12v.

I'm going to replace the 120mm rear fan for my rear exhaust with high-quality fan, and I might want to use a Nexus FSA-75 cable, that splits a 12v line into 5v, 7v, and 12v optional lines.

But then if the Corsair is already undervolting...I don't need that cable.

Thanks in advance...

Notice this additional cable connects to a standard IDE cable. It will always provide 12V there, unless you use some 12>5 thingy.
Some other PSU's, like BeQuiet Straight Power, have dedicated cables that will allow the PSU to control case fans. Not Corsair tho.
