Nexus 400W PSU - initial reactions

Post by Doomer » Thu Apr 10, 2003 6:54 am

My Nexus arrived today. It was heavy, little more heavier than my previous PSU, Antec Truepower 430W. I also disabled the fan on my Sapphire 9700 card and replaced it with Papst NGL. After installing I briefly tested it with all other fans disabled(2xNGL, one blowing air in, other blowing it out, 1XNGML on the P4). Wow, real silent.

Then I plug everything in and it's still quite silent.

15 minutes later my computer is as noisy as with Truepower. This is while my computer is idling on Windows XP, case temperature around 32-31C.

What a disappointement. Maybe I should return it and put all my money to Prosilence. Mike, we _need_ that review.

Had the same problem when I ducted the CPU-exhaust-air into my Nexus 3000.
Then I ducted the CPU-exhaust-air to the exhaust-fan. Problem solved.
Mobo temp. now 27*C under full load (folding@home).
