Slightly noisy Nexus Value 430W

Post by doveman » Sat Jun 05, 2010 2:34 am

I just bought a Nexus Value 430W to replace my apparently dying DC-DC board.

Unfortunately, the fan has a distinct ticking noise, somewhat mid-pitch rather than high, which I don't think it should have as I compared it to my exisiting Nexus Value 430W, which I've had for about 6 months, and whilst that has a slight noise, it's much quieter than this one.

So back it goes. Obviously there's always going to be the odd bad unit, but just thought I'd mention it in case there's a problem with Nexus' quality control or a bad batch in the UK at the moment. It didn't really suit me anyway as there's far too many cables for my simple 1 HDD HTPC so I really need to get a modular.

And now I see Seasonic are bringing out a 400W fanless modular PSU :D

Just to report the supplier confirmed it was faulty with a ticking fan, so assuming they actually tested it, it wasn't just me being over-sensitive
