which power supply is better/quieter? 80mm or 120mm fortron
hi everyone, i'm looking to buy a quiet power supply to replace my 250w antec. which one is quieter?
i've heard a lot of good things about that fortron with the 120mm fan. it's $32 at newegg for the 300w version (FSP300-60PN).
the fortron 300w 80mm fan version is $31 at newegg (FSP300-60ATV).
i think 300w is enough, since the 250w antec runs my machine ([email protected]) perfectly stable.
since they are about the same price, which one is quieter? and will they be a lot quieter than my antec?
any thoughts are appreciated. thanks!

I'll add my two cents as well.... I was able to get rid of the rear case fan as a result of the rather large amount of air that the FSP350-60PN moves. PC has been folding for 4 days 24-7 and the CPU is 46c and MB 38c. The Fortron is noticeably quieter than the Antec Truepower 380s that it replaced.

i've read that some people here think the 120mm one is quiet, and some people think it's loud.
there's also a user review a newegg that says it's loud, but others there say it's quiet. very mixed reviews all over...
anyone have experience with the 80mm one?
i'm concerned with the air turbulence noise that the 120mm fan will make.
is it negligible since it's embedded inside the case?

hi, i think i'm going to go with the 80mm one. thanks everyone for your input!
i have a another quick question:
fortron makes 2 300W psu's, specifically the FSP300-60ATV and the FSP300-60ATV(PF). what does the PF mean at the end, and which is the quiet one that everyone is raving about?
thanks in advance!

PF = Power Factor. The label should actually read PFC = Power Factor Correction, because Power Factor is a parameter like power output. It basically tells you how much AC electricity is wasted by the PSU. Perfect PF is 1.0. Active PFC gives you better than 0.95. Typical PSUs that have no PF correction have a PF of 0.5-0.6, which means 50-40% of AC is wasted as "harmonics". In short, PFC does not help your PC performance, but it IS better for your electric bill (usually) and better for the environment.

Please explain. WHat have you seen/experienced?Check the PSU to see if it has the noise killer sticker if you're going to buy the generic Fortron stuff, lots of shady businesses out there carrying Fortrons unfortunately.
