12V input ATX PS

Post by IceFire » Fri May 30, 2003 5:42 am

Anyone out there know where I can get one of these in the US? I want a ps that takes a 12V DC as the input. I know they make it, I just don't know where I can get one.

How much (DC) power do you need? I was browsing the Channel Well site and they do 12V & 24V supplies, 250/300W DC etc.

For lower power (like 50W) you could get the Morex DC/DC convertors - dont have a link handy but do a search in this forum cause I think I have posted a link for them before.

Still doesn't answer the basic question for a reseller: for Morex (mini-itx) stuff I am sure it is fairly easy: for CWT you would have to find the main distributors.

Want I'm thinking is hooking up a 12v (11 - 13V) deep cycle battery directly to a DC PS. I believe this would allow me to go fanless because there is no need for converting 120 AC to 12 DC. I'm hoping that this will reduce the heat in the PS and it'll make a great UPS.

I want the PS to have the standard ATX connection. All I need is about 200 watt if the PS is about 80% effiecent.
