Is Corsair 650TX still made by Seasonic?

PSUs: The source of DC power for all components in the PC & often a big noise source.

Is Corsair 650TX still made by Seasonic?

Post by Abula » Sun Mar 29, 2009 7:23 pm

I just bought a Corsair 650TX due to high reviews given here and in other places, aswell as good comments in the forums.

The manufacturer breaks down like this:

VX450 - Seasonic
VX550 - CWT

HX520 - Seasonic
HX620 - Seasonic

TX650 - Seasonic
TX750 - CWT

The TX650 is based on a revision of the S12-II design from Seasonic, with some small component changes and our own cable config (longer cables, fully sleeved, more connectors, etc).

The internal layout of the components on the PCB is tidy. The black heatsinks are reminiscent of those used in Seasonic Tornado or first generation S12 power supplies.
Heatsinks are reminiscent of those used in earlier Seasonic models.
But out of curiosity since there was no mention about the 850TX i started to search for reviews, and i found one review on driverheaven for it, but i also browsing their reviews also found one for the TX650

The Unit is built on a CWT PCB, a popupar maker in this power range
Im just wondering if its a typo on that review or maybe Corsair changed manufacturers for the 650TX, either way mine is coming already so cant change, just was wondering if anyone knew something about this.

According to http://extreme.outervision.com/articles ... _650_4.jsp "....I received a few emails from our readers that suggest the TX650 built by Seasonic. However, the official confirmation from Corsair representative states that this unit built by Channel Well Technology...."

Channelwell doesn't use heatsinks like that. That is a seasonic trademark. Not in the legal sense of a trademark, but it works for identifying their stuff.

All you are seeing is that some sites got confused.
