This info was posted on the Recommended PSUs page but just to make sure forum loungers don't miss it...
Intel has released updates on all its PSU guidelines. These docs basically dictate what PSU makers do, so they are worth examining. In a nutshell, they call for higher current in the 12V line. No surprise given the steady ramp-up of P4 power needs.

Thanks for spotting that Mike!
The data is indeed interesting.
While the document states that:
"It should not be inferred that all power supplies must
conform to these tables, nor that a power supply designed to meet the information in the tables
will work in all system configurations."
It is interesting to note that Typical power distribution for a 300W ATX12V supply reads:
I don't know of many PSUs, that can actually operate at these peaks for the required "up to 17 seconds" for up to 1 peak requirement per minute.
I wonder if how long in advance do the PSU makers get the same docs from Intel, before it's posted on Formfactors?
Hopefully several months in advance, so that the PSUs sold now and during the next half of this year will comply with the new specs.

Halcyon
