PicoPSU-80 with 150W brick?

I have a PicoPSU-80W and an 80W power brick. If I buy a 150W power brick from mini-box, will I be able to pass the additional 70W through the PicoPSU without worries?

150W is just the maximum capacity. If you've only got an 80W PicoPSU, then the brick will only supply 80W of power (probably closer to 90W taking into account the PicoPSU's efficiency) or whatever else your load might be.

I understand the PicoPSU is just a 12V->5V and 12V->3.3V DC/DC converter, and it simply passes 12V through from the AC->DC brick, unconditioned. So I won't get any more 5V and 3.3V capacity, but that's fine. Most of my power draw is from the CPU and graphics card, which is 12V.

The only potential problem is whether the wires and connections on the PicoPSU-80 can handle the current. Has anyone here done it?

I let my brick feed the 4pin +12V connector directly. Others here on the forum has done the same.

Hi all,
I've been looking for a brick for my PicoPSU 150 as well.
I've been looking for the most efficient 220V/12V AC/DC adapters by sieving through the Excel sheet here.
The Mean Well bricks seems to be the most efficient. I am looking at the GS220A12-R7B is particular, because it provides 200W output, so it should be able to feed the 150W PicoPSU easily. See the specs here.
I also found a distributor on this page, so I emailed them with a few questions regarding buying and delivery.
I'll let you know how it went.

The Mean Well bricks are efficient, but it's hard to find them and I would suspect them to be pretty expensive. If you manage to find a pricing for them, could you let us know?

Ok, I got two pricings for the GS220A12-R7B brick; one from Finland, the other from Hungary.
Finland:
- one brick: 115.7€
- delivery fee for two units: 32.34€
- estimated delivery: 1 week
Hungary:
- one brick: 101.6€
- delivery fee for two units: 31€
- estimated delivery: 1 week

All prices above include tax.
Obviously I ordered the two bricks from Hungary -> instantly saving 29.54€.

Wow that's way too expensive. The extra efficiency would practically never pay itself back as compared to the high initial cost. I've went through the Energy Star's list of power adapter efficiencies and if 120W is enough for you, you can find a LiteOn PA3717U-1ACA which is about 90% efficient for about $30 on eBay shipped.

Nope, 130-140.
I already ordered it, so it does not really matter.

It's going to be on 24/7 for years, so I guess it will pay back its price sooner or later.
I guess the smaller models are cheaper - but I like to be in the safe zone.

Can I truly use the liteon brick with a PicoPsu? This auction says the brick has an output of 19V.. I thought the picopsu needed 12V input?

Otherwise, would getting this brick with a 120W Picopsu be the best (silent) bang for my money for a 80W (according to kill-a-watt) computer?

I know this is an old thread, but that AC-DC adapter uses a 4-pin connector at the end. Does anyone have any recommendations for converting that to the 2.5mmx5.5mm barrel typically used (by the picoPSU for instance)?

EDIT: I now realize that that picoPSU has an optional mini Fit Jr to 4-pin mini Din adapter.
