It is not a good week for my antec sonata plus case i gave to my mother. The Antec Neo HE 550just died on me (just out of warenty i think sigh!!). The stupid power button breaks , can be fixed with glue but poorly designed if you ask me. And to finish it off, I scratched the nice black paint :(.

Anyway enough blaba , I gave my mother my be quiet! powersuply and was looking for a new one. But during my search I came a across a lot of security abbreviations. Are any of these following complety not needed? The one be quiet powersupply i was looking at has all the following security meassures.

(OCP),(OVP),(UVP),(OLP/OPP),(SCP), (OTP)

Spec:
P55 -core i5 750-5770 AMD- one hard disk

I could order the be quiet but then i have to wait , since the only powersuplly not in stock. Some alternatives where :
-Cooler Master GX550
-Antec High Current Gamer HCG-520
-Antec BP550Plus 550 Watt
-be quiet! Pure Power 530W (the one with all the abbreviations)
-be quiet! Straight Power E7 450W -> (also all the abbreviations but enough power?)
-Corsair CMPSU-500CX
-Sharkoon Rush Power C 500W
-Sharkoon SHA550-12EUP 500W ATX22
-Sharkoon SilentStorm CM SHA560-135A 560 Watt
-OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W

And many many more , so if anyone can advise about those security measures or negative experience(noise/broken) with any of the listen powersupplys it would be really appriciated.

Those abbreviations - OCP=over current protection, OVP=over voltage protection, UVP=under voltage protection, SCP=short circuit protection, OTP=over temperature protection, OPP=over power protection - refer to safety features that any good quality power supply would have as standard. Looking at your list of possible choices, BeQuiet like Sharkoon is a brand name familiar on the European market, but not I think marketed elsewhere. As you have bought BeQuiet before the best option might be the Pure Power L7 530W. This is an entry level PSU which costs around £45 in the UK, around 50€. The Corsair CMPSU-500CX is approximately the same price. The Antec High Current Gamer 520W PSU is around £11 or 13€ more expensive, and features a 135mm fan so could be quieter.

Ty for your reply , i went with the be quiet! 450w in the end , was on stock and not to expensive , should be more then enough for my spec normally. My second choice was the antec one but I was a bit to annyoed still by the neo 550W failure just out of warrenty.
