Hi guys,

Before I pull the trigger on a Seasonic Fanless 460w I thought I'd double-check that the unit will be fine for my system. I have a P183 V3.

Specs are:

i7 2600k CPU (@ stock - not OC'd, never will be)
16GB ram (4x4GB)
Gigabyte GTX680 (moderately OC'd by Gigabyte as standard - takes 1x6pin and 2x8 pin pcie power)
Gigabyte Mobo (all stock stuff, nothing fancy)
Soundblaster XFI Titanium HD PCIE
1 x Noctura DH-14 with stock Notcua fans (or small "all in one" water cooling CPU unit)
3 x case fans 120mm @ 7v
2 x SSD drives
1 x 500gb 5400 RPM Seagate Momentus 2.5"
1 x DVDRW/CDRW drive

Do you think the 460w will run the system comfortably ? I was thinking about a couple more case fans in the near future (@ 5v or 7v).. this will really be the only change I have planned.

Yes, but do yourself a favor. Get one of the "fan-less" Seasonics that come with a fan that only turns on when it is stressed.

They don't kick in until you hit 200 watts. While in theory your setup could hit up to 350W. It will only do that if you are stressing it with benchmarking programs. Almost all the time you will be running well under 200 watts.

It should be enough. If we say the TDP translates to max. power consumption then the two primary components use 95 W (CPU) + 195 W (GPU, official TDP by Nvidia). That's not even 300 W, and that's during max. stress which can only be accomplished using benchmarking programs (the mild overclock increases the power consumption though!). So in reality, perhaps the GPU + CPU would consume 200-250 W during heavy workloads? The other components would also have a hard time climbing over a 50-75 W. So you see, your system will not utilize more than say.. 400 W, and that's a worst case scenario that I don't even think is possible in reality.

I would be completely safe with using the Seasonic PSU

Should be doable, as only a setup with a hungrier (130 W TDP) and heavily overclocked CPU and maximally overclocked GPU is reaching the 460's rated wattage under heavy 3D load. That setup also uses a VelociRaptor in addition to the SSD and storage drive. Just need to make sure the PSU has a nice, cooling airflow going over it.

I'm too much of a scaredy-cat to cut ratings that close, but I commend you for your bravery!
