Need advice in modifying a Dell DA-2 to work with a pico-PSU

I am using a pico-PSU 150-XT and noticed people recommending the Dell DA-2 to be used with it. However, the Dell has a non-standard power connector.

However,I read on another forum that some managed to use an 8 pin female to 4 pin male ATX connector successfully:

They basically inserted the 8 pin female connector upside down into the output connector and said it worked. Would this be wise to do or would I need to rewire the Dell output connector and is there a guide??

An easier way is to cut the weird DA-2 connector and use one that suits your needs better. I wrote this in another thread:

Thanks for your reply!

I don't have a soldering iron,so can I do this instead:

I already have the ATX connectors and the plastic cable junctions.
