Hey guys,

I'm currently in the process of returning my second seasonic g360 for very loud coil whines.

I've given up on the seasonic for now, so please don't tell me to buy another.

Enermax http://www.scan.co.uk/products/350w-ene ... tx-v23-psu
Be Quiet! http://www.scan.co.uk/products/300w-be- ... an-atx-psu

Anyone got experience or a recommendation between the two?

:)

I bought a Seasonic 380W PSU last year and had the same problem: coil whine. However, that might have been caused by the Intel DH67BL mainboard I was using it with.

I replaced it with a be quiet Straight Power BQT E9 400W, and in my rig it is inaudible.

I can also recommend the Enermax ErPro80+ 350W ATX 2.3 (EES350AWT-ErP).

Either one of these would do the trick.

The Enermax is not 80+ certified and the BeQuiet! is only basic 80+ certified. If they are a low level of efficiency then they are unlikely to be REALLY quiet.

@ edh

How about the Seasonic X-400 in your config, edh, are you happy with it?

I've been eying it ever since it came out, but after my traumatic encounter with the Seasonic S12II-380GB I've been wary of Seasonic PSUs, perhaps unjustifiably.

Trust me, the above BQ 380W is quiet.

Very happy with the X-400. I know coil whine has been raised as an issue with many Seasonic PSUs but I can't say I have it. Put my ear right next to the grill of it and there is a faint buzz but only on the same level as anything else with electricity running through it. The latest versions are a little different as they are Platinum rated.
