Seasonic Gold vs Seasonic Platinum.

Post by KrazyKatz » Fri Jan 25, 2013 1:53 pm

Hi Folks,
First thanks for the outstanding resource. Glad to be a part of it.

I'm building a Digital Audio Workstation and as such am aiming for maximum quietness to mix and record without background noise. This is the no. 1 concern.

My original plan was to buy the Seasonic 650W Gold X-Series, However I saw that for marginally more I could get the SeaSonic Platinum-660 660W

Then I saw a lot of talk about voltage whine from the Platinum, although after searching I saw feedback from time to time indicating whine from the Gold Series.

I basically want to know which system is more likely to be quieter. The Platinum does have more technical pluses but If I'll be taking more of a chance on voltage whine/higher noise with Platinum then I'm going for Gold.

I don't think I'll be using more the 450W so both systems would remain in silent mode for the most part, but I'd like to have the extra voltage in case.

Thanks.
