Hello SPCR members!
I'm a first time poster, long-time reader of this terrific website
I've learned a lot and I assembled a new PC recently, its all nice and quiet except for 1 thing : PSU
PC:
Intel i7-3770K
32 GB DDR3 RAM
1 SSD 128Gb
1 HDD WD Green Caviar
Asus GFX 660ti dc2u
Case = CM Silencio 550
3 Noiseblocker fans
Atm I have a Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 650W in this system, I think it's overkill, and it's making noise when I stress my CPU.
So maybe I could try a fanless PSU for this system? Is my case good enough for a fanless PSU? (not really good airflow)
Cheers!
Need quieter PSU for my system

Re: Need quieter PSU for my system
Welcome to SPCR. Your system's stressed load power is in the 280W range and pulls maybe 240W in heavy gaming. So, yeah, you could pop a fanless 400W 80+ gold rated PSU in there if you wanted.
Is the PSU noise fan-related or electronic buzzing or...?

Re: Need quieter PSU for my system
It's some kind of wooshing sound, so I think its due to turbulence...
