I need a quiet PSU and I believe I have narrowed it down to these choices (both on sale):
Corsair TX650
Available for $80 (Canadian) here:http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_ ... _id=052924
or
SeaSonic X-400
$120 here: http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=79063
Note that this is the FLII version and the one reviewed by SPCR is just FL. I'm not sure how big a difference this will make.
My rig:
amd phenom x4 955 black edition @ stock speeds
8gm ddr3
550ti
3 hdds
Cooler Master Haf922 case
2x200mm case fans
The TX650 from what I hear is not that quiet. And the X-400 has buzzing or coil noise, but I doubt I will ever hear this because of the rest of my PC. The $120 price tag on the X-400 is a little high imo, but my current PSU is so damn loud, it may be worth it.
These are what I have narrowed it down to, but I am open to other suggestions.
which PSU to choose?

Re: which PSU to choose?
Your system's stressed load power is in the 280W range...and probably < 250W while gaming. When Seasonic revised the fanless 400W for the FLII , they upgraded the efficiency rating to Platinum from Gold. The $120 CAN is a pretty decent price. The 520W version has been reviewed. Another PSU at NCIX is the Seasonic G series SSR-550RM for $100 (also at Amazon.ca). It's been shown to be pretty quiet at idle and at your load power.
Re: which PSU to choose?
True for some users and not for others. I've never had any of this but some users have had bad noises and then replacements that are just the same. The Seasonic Platinum 520W fanless review covers some of these points and BIOS settings that can be tried to prevent this.zaferk wrote:And the X-400 has buzzing or coil noise
